TIMECODE LOG & CALCULATOR README FILE Menu, Procedure and Display Notice The menus, procedural steps and displays described in this product's documentation are derived from Windows XP Pro SP3 and the Excel component of Microsoft Office Pro 2003 SP3. Users should expect to observe differences in these menus, procedures and displays when running Timecode Log & Calculator on platforms employing other Microsoft Operating System and/or Office Suite products. Minimum System Requirements • Pentium III CPU, 930MHz • 512 MB RAM • 10 MB Default drive free space • SVGA Display – 32 bit • 1024 x 768 Screen resolution • Windows XP/Vista/7 32 or 64 bit • Microsoft Office/Excel 2003/2007 Installation Run the installer file (tc_log_download.exe for the Trial Version or Timecode_Log_Installer.exe for the Purchased Version) and follow its on screen instructions. The installer will specify a destination in the C:\Program Files directory by default - use the Browse button to choose or create an alternate directory from which Timecode Log & Calculator will be used in normal day-to-day operation. Timecode Log & Calculator must run on an Excel® equipped computer or workstation. The directory chosen for the install will become the default location for Timecode Log & Calculator's executable file (Timecode_Logger.exe or Timecode_Logger_Trial.exe) and its support documents (such as this Readme file). The Timecode Log & Calculator installer offers the option to create Desktop and Start Menu icons during installation. It also drops an uninstaller into the Programs folder. Quick Start Guide Refer to details in the file Timecode_Log_and_Calculator_User_Guide.pdf concerning the following Quick Start steps... 1. To launch Timecode Log & Calculator, double click the Timecode_Logger.exe or Timecode_Logger_Trial.exe filename in its Windows Explorer directory or – if any were created during installation – double click a Timecode Log & Calculator shortcut icon. 2. At the Microsoft Excel Read Only dialogue... a. Click Read Only to insure that newly entered data is saved to a new filename and no changes are made to the original Timecode Log & Calculator file. b. In order to preserve sample data and safeguard critical formulas, changes to the original file (Timecode_Logger.exe or Timecode_Logger_Trial.exe) are not recommended and, instead, Excel's File | Save as... menu should be utilized to save user-modified versions of the file to a new filename. 3. The TC LOG tab displays automatically whenever Timecode Log & Calculator is opened. 4. First time users may refer to the Sample Data that populates all resident data fields to better illustrate Timecode Log & Calculator’s features. Sample Data allows new users to become acquainted with Timecode Log & Calculator and gain hands-on experience with its operation before investing the time and effort to enter their own data. When no further use of Sample Data is required, the Clear Data feature on the TC LOG tab clears all resident data fields in preparation for user data entry. a. Warning: Clear Data causes permanent data loss when this features is executed. Users must deliberately permit data deletion by appropriate responses to warning messages. Clear Data can – and will – delete a user’s own data if user data resides in target data fields when this feature is executed. 5. Enter or revise data on the TC LOG tab. Print this data – if required – using the Print Log button on the TC LOG tab. Export an XML file of this data using the Export XML button on the TC LOG tab. 6. Save changes made to Timecode Log & Calculator data using Excel save icons, menus or shortcut keys (e.g. Ctrl+S). To preserve user-entered data, it is intended that Excel's File | Save as... menu option be used to save new copies of the original file to a new filename. New copies created from a Read Only state inherit the Read Only default of the original file. 7. Exit Timecode Log & Calculator using Excel menus or the Close X box in Excel’s upper right corner or Alt+F4.
